On behalf of the Conference Committee of Coming Together 2017 Employing Ability, we are pleased to say thank you to each of you who have attended this conference. Your presence helped to make this event a great success. We hope that you found the conference informative and worthwhile. We also want to thank all our conference partners and volunteers for sharing their ideas and expertise and for making this event possible.
Each year, the conference focuses on a topic relevant to young people 14 years of age and older with a developmental disability or autism and who are experiencing life transitions. This year’s theme Employing Ability placed a spotlight on meaningful participation and inclusion in our community, with an emphasis on employment and employment services.
Attendees met with key community stakeholders who are helping people with disabilities prepare for and find jobs. Youth and young adults had the opportunity to become artisans for a day by joining culinary arts programs, small business and social enterprises in on site workshops.
