Developmental Services Case Resolution Mechanism

Developmental Services Case Resolution Mechanism

Effective April 1, 2024, responsibility for the Developmental Services (DS) Case Resolution Mechanism transitioned from the Youth Services Bureau (YSB) to Service Coordination Support (SCS). This transition aligns service resolution and access functions with SCS’s mandate and is intended to improve efficiency and overall service effectiveness for children, youth, and families accessing developmental services.

The DS Case Resolution Mechanism is grounded in principles that prioritize preserving the family unit, supporting individuals to remain in their family home, and advancing their Individualized Plan of Care.

Eligibility for access is based on demonstrated complexity and acuity, where individuals are experiencing significant barriers in accessing community-based supports required to achieve the outcomes identified in their Plan of Care. The mechanism is not intended to bypass established community waitlists. Referrals made solely for the purpose of accessing funding will not be considered. Any funding support provided must be clearly linked to the individual’s plan of care and be short-term in nature.

Access to the Case Resolution Mechanism is initiated by service providers only. Referring providers are expected to review all required documentation and submission requirements prior to referral. Following review, the SCS team will connect with the referring provider to confirm next steps.

The Case Resolution Mechanism operates as a distinct program, separate from SCS Case Management services. It is important to note that eligibility criteria differ between the two programs, and referrals to the Case Resolution Mechanism may be made regardless of whether an individual is actively receiving SCS Case Management services.
