ABLE2 Programs
ABLE2 strives to deliver programming that helps build an inclusive community in Ottawa, where everyone can participate, according to their abilities, as full community members.
Impact evaluations clearly show that inclusion, the reduction of loneliness and isolation, and the resulting improvement in mental and physical health have a significant positive benefit on the lives of people with disabilities, their families, our volunteers and partners, and the community at large.

Online Course: Understanding what is happening inside your body: Interoceptive Training for All Ages
Some people with neurodevelopmental differences have a hard time noticing signals from their bodies or being able to tell what they mean. Interoception is the sensory system that lets us know when we need to eat, drink water, or use the washroom. It is also the sensory system that allows us to know when we are becoming upset or anxious. Autistic researchers and colleagues from South Australia created a curriculum for schools to help teach students better interoception skills. AIDE Canada joined with Dr. Wenn Lawson, an Autistic researcher from South Australia, to adapt this curriculum for an online course. Links to the full curriculum are included.
Cooking with Chef Anthony
Autism Ontario welcomes autistic families all across Ontario to join this 8-week Cooking Program led by Chef Anthony Go, a graduate of George Brown Chef School and an autistic adult. Anthony is a Chef focusing on food, recipes, and grocery shopping tips. For complete nutritional advice, please consult your healthcare professionals.
The theme of the fall program is Gluten Free and Dairy Free. Chef Anthony chose this theme because in his experience, this is a very common diet in the Autism community.
Dates: Sundays, October 20 – December 8, 2024

MOVE by GoodLife Kids Program
Looking for a FREE program for your youth to get active all year round? Look no further!
MOVE by GoodLife Kids Program is a FREE physical activity and fitness program created to build physical and mental well-being as well as community and confidence for youth ages 12 -21 with autism and intellectual disabilities across Canada. Youth with autism and intellectual disabilities often face barriers to participation in physical activity and fitness programs: whether it be a higher cost, whether it’s a lack of support for individual needs, or the environment itself is inaccessible. MOVE was created to break down these barriers and cultivate a sense of belonging through the power of movement.
The MOVE Program is led in person and virtually by specially trained Coaches and Support Agents who utilize adaptive programming to tailor classes to the unique needs of each participant, ensuring a fun and inclusive experience.
A Typical Class Structure Includes:
10 minutes – Welcome, talk topic, and warm-up
40 minutes – 1-3 Exercise circuits with games and dance breaks in between
10 minutes – Cool down and goodbyes
