Joined the SCS Board of Directors in 2024

From 1992 to 2023, Robert Houle was a principal of CAPCORP Financial advising clients on the design and funding of employee benefits for both group insurance and group retirement plans. Implementing innovative solutions helped employers control costs while balancing risk and encouraging plan participants to be better consumers. During his career as a benefits advisor, Robert was active in the industry where he is a founding member and past chair of Benefits Alliance, Canada’s Leading National Alliance of Independent Benefits Advisory firms, collectively administering employee benefits plans with $2.2 billion of group insurance premium and $6 billion in retirement plan assets for 13,000 employer plan sponsors covering over two million Canadians.

In addition, Mr. Houle served as a Director of the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) where he also chaired the national Employee Benefits Issue Group. Throughout his career, he was a member of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada and Advocis.

Robert Houle was highly active in politics serving in roles such as elected city councilor, campaign manager, executive assistant to a Member of Parliament and chief of staff to a federal cabinet minister. Also Mr. Houle spent 13 years on the board of directors of the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, five (5) years in an executive role.

Mr. Houle graduated with a B.A. from Laurentian University and graduated with an MPA from Queen’s University. He holds four (4) professional designations in his chosen career.

For 35 years, Robert was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa working as a volunteer in areas such as youth, seniors, community service, legacy and fundraising.

Robert enjoys traveling, golfing, snowmobiling, reading and wine collecting.
