Valoree L. McKay, CAE
Joined the SCS Board of Directors in 2024
Valoree is a seasoned, bilingual, Certified Association Executive (CAE) known for her transformational leadership in the not-for-profit sector. She has been at the helm of associations at the national level for over 25 years – from creation through to dissolution and through many facets of change and growth.
Change has always been a key focus in Valoree’s leadership roles. She has led change in governance models as well as change for growth and efficiency including complete rebranding, system overhauls and operational reviews. She has established a professional association for a new health profession resulting in the introduction of this profession into provincial health systems and she has led transformative change resulting in the bringing together of a fractured community to take ownership and redefine the national association’s value model.
Valoree has been recognized on several occasions for the strengths she brings to an organization including her professionalism, integrity and enthusiasm, as well as her dedication to leadership excellence. A strategic thinker, her areas of expertise include change leadership, increasing innovation, quality improvement, government advocacy, association governance, and partnership development.
Valoree has been a key player on both the national and international stage with regards to health care. She has advocated for a number of important issues within and outside of health care including health human resources, emergency and respiratory health issues, research, library and information issues, intellectual freedom, copyright and tobacco control.
