Alexsis Story 

Alexsis: My name is Alexsis Catherine May Peel. I am 37 years old. 

SCS Case Manager: And what kind of things do you like to do? 

Alexsis: I like cooking, baking, and all the different stuff.

SCS Case Manager: So do you remember the first time we met and we talked about some of your goals? 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: Do you remember what some of those goals were? 

Alexsis: My goal is to get a job, out of the house. Like, go out in the community and go to Gourmet Express. I guess I contributed for cooking. All the different, like, make sandwiches and make homemade desserts, homemade cookies, and homemade everything. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah, at Gourmet Express. The first thing we did was get you involved with Gourmet Express. 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: So after you did Gourmet Express, you had your certification, and we were looking for some more things for you to do.

Alexsis: I go around to Good Companions Center to do the kitchen, do stuff in the kitchen, seal all the meals for people, for the seniors people. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah, so the meals that you guys made, you would seal them, and then you'd package them up and send them to the orders that the people had because they wanted to get the meals from Good Companions? 

Alexsis:  Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah, and did you really like doing that? 

Alexsis: Yes.

SCS Case Manager: Did you meet a lot of new people? 

Alexsis: Yeah, a lot of new people at the place. 

SCS Case Manager: So once you finished your volunteering at Good Companions, then you wanted to get a job. 

Alexsis: Oh yeah, I work at OCL every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday to do table works, orders all the baked goods, like homemade jam, homemade cookies, homemade scones, homemade banana bread, homemade all kinds of breads, and homemade all the desserts for holidays and stuff.

SCS Case Manager: Yeah, so it's a catering company. 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah, and people order and then you make the food and you deliver it to them.

Alexsis:  Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: And you like doing that? 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: And you get paid to do that? 

Alexsis: Yes.

SCS Case Manager: And you like getting your own money? 

Alexsis: Yes. I like my own money. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah? One of your goals before was also to move out.

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: So can you tell me a little bit about where you're living now? 

Alexsis: I live in a house with a lot of, like, a family. Full of three daughters and a son live in the house. It's nice and big and nice. People are very nice. 

SCS Case Manager: So now that you've gone to Good Companions and you moved out, you're living in a home share with OCL. You have quite a big network of people around you. 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: You have a big team.

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: That supports you. 

Alexsis: Yes.

SCS Case Manager: And how do you feel about having all those people there supporting you? 

Alexsis:  It's good. 

SCS Case Manager: Yeah? 

Alexsis: Yeah. 

SCS Case Manager: So whenever you need help or advice, you have people around you? 

Alexsis: Yes.

SCS Case Manager: So what are some things that you think you're really good at? 

Alexsis: I'm really good at people skills. Yeah. I'm capable to go on the bus and do all the stuff around.

SCS Case Manager: Yeah. You're really good with the bus. 

Alexsis: Yes.

SCS Case Manager: And one last thing. 

Alexsis: One last thing is I like it. 

SCS Case Manager: What do you like? 

Alexsis: All the other, like, everything, like, I like Gourmet Express.

SCS Case Manager: All the things that you did, the cooking, the Gourmet Express and the Good Companions? 

Alexsis: Yes. 

SCS Case Manager: And now you have your job. 

Alexsis: Yeah, I have my big job, my paid job.

SCS Case Manager: You like having a paid job. 

Alexsis: Yes.
